Southampton posted a video on their official club Twitter account of the goals from three wins for their various sides over the past few days on Tuesday, and Saints fans were quick to react to the positive post.
While the first team picked up a 2-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday to advance to an FA Cup quarter-final tie against League One Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium – relieving some of the pressure on manager Mauricio Pellegrino – the U18 side beat their Aston Villa counterparts 1-0.
Meanwhile, on Monday night the U23s went one better as they thrashed their Newcastle United counterparts 5-1, with Michael Obafemi – who made his Premier League debut as a late substitute in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last month – scoring his first goal for them.
Southampton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the tweet, and while one reacted sarcastically by saying “have you sacked the manager then”, another said “stop kidding yourselves”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
