After another high profile error in last week’s match against Hull City, Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is under pressure to start performing in a Reds jersey.
Failing to make a ball coming into the box his own against the Tigers, his fumble allowed Alfred N’Diaye to score on his debut and give Marco Silva’s side a vital lead. It cost Liverpool, with Hull going on to win the match 2-0.
Jurgen Klopp has had a major goalkeeping problem for the majority of the season, failing to settle on Mignolet or Loris Karius as a permanent number one.
Mignolet has been Jurgen Klopp’s first choice in the bigger games since December after Karius made a string of errors of his own but the German has also been keeping Karius sharp by rotating him into the side in cup action.
That’s led to speculation that the Belgian goalkeeper could be dropped for today’s game against Spurs, with Liverpool desperate for a victory to keep their challenge for a top four position viable.
Now Liverpool fans have had their say in our exclusive poll.
The results are clear, 61% of fans want Klopp to persist with Simon Mignolet rather than give Karius a start at Anfield.
Will the Liverpool manager agree, or will he make another bold call ahead of Spurs’ visit?
