According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in bringing Liverpool’s summer signing Fabinho to the French capital and have been encouraged by the player’s lack of gametime.
What’s the word?
The Brazilian only arrived at Anfield in the summer, in a deal worth a reported £43.7m from Ligue 1 side Monaco. However, he has made just three Premier League starts as Jurgen Klopp opts to bed him in slowly rather than throw him in at the deep end.
Not many eyelids should be batted at that decision, seeing as the German boss did the exact same thing with Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain last season – the former is now a guaranteed starter in the side, whereas the latter would be were it not for a serious injury.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is starting to feature more regularly now, and fans have been impressed with his knack of winning the ball back in vital areas and playing incisive forward passes.
Why Liverpool must keep him
The Reds haven’t had a ball-winner such as Fabinho since Lucas Leiva departed the club, and even the current Lazio man – a firm Anfield favourite – was limited in other areas of his game.
In their new Brazilian destroyer, however, Klopp has a player who has far more in his armoury. Fabinho is versatile, due to his ability to perform at right-back as well as in midfield, and is an excellent technician in the middle of the park.

Compared to the club’s other options in midfield, such as James Milner, Gini Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri, not one player can do what Fabinho does.
Additionally, the Brazil international’s sustainability should arguably be the biggest factor in keeping him at the club. His talents don’t rely on physical attributes such as pace, as his key traits in reading the play and anticipating things is all upstairs in his head – Fabinho could well be the glue that holds Klopp’s midfield together for the next decade if they club trust him too.
