Journalist and Sunderland supporter Josh Bunting is buzzing as Amad Diallo’s representative is reportedly in talks with the club over a potential move to the Stadium of Light.
The Lowdown: Diallo transfer talks
As per journalist Jonas Hen Shrag, the 20-year-old’s representative Michael N’Cho is currently in talks with the Black Cats, among a number of other clubs, over a potential move to the Championship outfit.
Manchester United are looking to loan him out for this season, with Blackpool, Anderlecht, Besiktas and Sampdoria also interested in his signature.
The Latest: Bunting delighted
Taking to Twitter after hearing the news, Bunting claimed that he would ‘love’ Diallo to sign for the Wearsiders, adding that the Ivory Coast international is an ‘exciting’ and ‘electric’ player with ‘real quality’.
The journalist gushed: “I don’t want to get excited but I would love Amad Diallo at the Stadium of Light, such an exciting player, had glimpses of real quality at Rangers last season. In the Championship I think he’d be electric, the quality of balls into Ellis Simms and Ross Stewart would be lovely.”
The Verdict: Sign him
After United secured a £37.2m deal for the then 18-year-old in 2020, Diallo was a player brought to Old Trafford with a lot of promise.
He was sent on loan to Glasgow Rangers in the January transfer window last season, where he netted three goals in the Scottish Premiership, including one on his debut against Ross County (Transfermarkt).
Another loan would surely suit him as he continues his development, and Alex Neil’s side are likely to offer him more game-time than the Premier League outfit.
Diallo would offer Sunderland another valuable squad option as they look to attack the Championship following their promotion from League One.
