Manchester City have now made contact with the entourage of a “magical” midfielder, ahead of what could be a surprise move, according to a report.
Man City keen on new midfielders
One of Pep Guardiola’s main tasks this summer will be to bring in a new attacking midfielder, given that Kevin De Bruyne’s time at the Etihad Stadium is coming to an end, and they have now stepped up their pursuit of River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono.
The Blues are preparing an offer for Mastantuono, who has a £38m release clause in his contract, while they are also in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, although the German could command a fee of around £100m.
Not only is bringing in a new attacking midfielder on the agenda, but City are also keen on bolstering their options in a slightly deeper role, with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali one of the names on the shortlist.

A move for Tonali could make sense, given that the Italian has been a key player for high-flying Newcastle United this season, but there is another, more left-field option now emerging as a potential target.
According to a report from France (via Sport Witness), Man City have now made contact over Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara, reaching out to discuss a move with the Brazilian’s entourage.
The central midfielder is very popular with ‘those in charge’ at the Etihad Stadium, which means a surprise move could be on the cards, although there is a chance it could simply be agents at work trying to drum up interest in their client.
It remains to be seen whether the interest is genuine, but joining the Blues could be an attractive proposition for Sara, given that he was most recently linked with Championship side Sheffield United.
"Magical" Sara impressing at Galatasaray
Galatasaray are in a strong position to win the Turkish Super Lig this season, and the 25-year-old has been one of their most important players, picking up two goals and seven assists in 28 league outings.
Football scout Ben Mattinson also praised the £75k-a-week maestro during his time with Norwich City, stating he believes the “magical” midfielder could make an impact at Premier League level.
That said, Sara’s impressive performances at Championship level and in Turkey do not mean he would be able to make the step-up to a club with aspirations of winning the Premier League next season, so it would be a gamble for City to pursue a deal.
