With the top European leagues at the business end of the 2024-25 campaign, the EA Sports FC Team of the Season (TOTS) cards are set to be unveiled. La Liga, Spain's top tier, recently released the nominees in contention for each position, and it didn't take long for supporters to notice that Barcelona had more players in the list than their Real Madrid counterparts. Indeed, Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Robert Lewandowski were just some of the Barca players nominated for their stellar performances this season, highlighting the team's consistency under Hansi Flick.

The Catalans ultimately edged the battle, with six Real Madrid and eight Barcelona players included in total. Thibaut Courtois, Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior were all given the nod, while Barca's nominees included defenders Alejandro Balde, Inigo Martinez, Jules Kounde, and Pau Cubarsi; midfielder Pedri; and forwards Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski.
The fact that so many Barcelona players were selected for the Team of the Season nomination list highlights their overall supremacy in Spanish football during the 2024-25 campaign. Indeed, they've beaten Madrid in the last four matches between the two sides, including in the Copa del Rey final on April 26.
